The Future of the Baptist Union

In his December Blog the General Secretary of the Baptist Union, Jonathan Edwards, wrote:
‘At November 2011’s Baptist Union Council the Treasurer summarized our present financial situation. In short we anticipate that it is likely that by the end of this year there will be a deficit of about one million pounds….
If we merely fix the financial problem, we will have achieved nothing of any great worth. We need to pray that God will give us a renewed vision of our life together.’
Baptist Union Council has set up a Futures Group to reflect on the way forward, consult as widely as possible with people from every part of our Baptist constituency and bring firm proposals to the Council during 2012. The aim is to ‘re-imagine what Christ is calling us to do as a Baptist people in the UK, prioritise key areas of our shared life and mission and in doing that move towards a balanced budget.’ For full version – click here.
